Why did I create Free Speech Studio?
Well, if the previous post hasn’t tipped you off, you need to sharpen up a bit really.
The simple answer is because I want to restore liberal values! (Americans please beware, that term has a very different meaning here in the UK in my experience!)
It almost pains me to say it, but I must because it’s true, liberal values now live on the centre-right. The values didn’t move, and they didn’t change. Their traditional home just got up in the night, ran about 100 miles to the left, and pitched itself there instead. No warning, no forwarding address, just a truck load of ideological refugees (like me) left out in the cold wondering who would put a roof over their head.
Thankfully someone did: The good old-fashioned, ever-reliable, kind, charitable, rational and welcoming grown-ups of the conservative household. Who else?
The thing is, their door was never closed. It was always wide open, with a roaring fire inside and a spare seat next to it for just about anyone who wanted it, provided they had no sinister intentions of smashing up the house in a tantrum, or selfishly re-arranging the furniture without agreement from the less-obnoxious majority, rendering the entire place extremely uncomfortable or even uninhabitable for anyone but themselves.
So when the radical left decided to ostracise themselves by adopting beliefs and ‘principles’ which could only ever represent social-misfits, mentally-unwell tyrants, or overtly malevolent people (Big Red anyone?), they unwittingly ostracised their own entire base. A stroke of strategic genius I am sure!
I must say though, I am now scared, extremely scared. Politics can shift left and right, it always has, but what’s going on today is something very new, at least it is outside of Stalinist/Leninist Russia or Maoist China. This is not just normal ‘back and forth’ between two reasonable, rational, and altruistic political ideologies. This is outright radicalism and extremism, normalised into the mainstream, force-fed to our children both at school and at home via all brands of media and entertainment.
If either child or parent has a whisper of an objection to any of it, they must go straight to hell. No, don’t stop to collect £200, you won’t be needing your capitalist tool of oppression down there, it would burn with you anyway. These are wacky times, where those who scream the loudest get to dictate how everyone else must behave, how to think, how to raise their children (while they’re still permitted any role therein), how to run their businesses, how to manage their marriages and relationships, how to live their entire lives.
As a devoted husband and father, this is not just about me any more.
Even if I could continue to stomach this dangerous slide towards Communism, I have people I am responsible for, and they’ll have to live here a lot longer than I will.
I no longer feel it is acceptable for me to just moan about things to those close to me, it serves no purpose, and there needs to be a real sense of purpose in all of us now if we have any hope of stemming the tide of radicalism and the complete annihilation of the fundamental rights that western societies have adhered to since founding them.
These rights and principles have transformed the lives of millions of people around the world in the many countries that have adopted them, to the enormous benefit of their own peoples.
I refuse to ‘go quietly’ any longer. I spent years keeping my mouth shut when in public or even on internet forums and social media junk pages, self-censoring just to ‘keep the peace’ or avoid arguments with other people, people who don’t seem to think rationally for even a second before falling ‘into line’ behind the dogmatic doctrines required by modern radical leftist theory, a.k.a. Cultural Marxism. Disobedience will not be tolerated, so why bother contemplating the rationale, you’ll obey in the end so may as well save time eh?
I once hoped this radical Marxist agenda was just a fad, something the youngsters follow for a while before growing up and getting on with the serious task of living, a bit like a Mohican or a Vespa.
It is now excruciatingly obvious that this pathological scripture of madness is here to stay, at least until/unless it is strongly challenged. The way to challenge it is to discuss it, loudly and proudly. Just as the ‘gay pride’ movement marches down the street with a colourful display of pride in their beliefs and chosen way of life, we as hard-working and law-abiding citizens have at least an equal right to taking and expressing the very same pride in who we are and what we stand for.
We don’t even have to be a “we” to do that. In a truly free and tolerant society, we’d only need to be an individual.
The freedoms of western democracies did not arise out of a systematic or institutionalised process of handing out subsets of user-defined rights to endless sprawling groups of people like the kind lady in the sweet shop: “Here’s some for your tribe, and yes ok here’s some for your tribe too….” ad infinitum. That’s the modern regressive left’s approach. And they like it not because they can choose who to give them to, but because they can choose who not to give them to.
No, the approach that the western/Christian value-set produced was a truly game-changing idea for all of mankind, that the rights of the individual are paramount, and to be protected at all costs, irrespective of his or her membership of any special-interest groups, or any group at all for that matter.
Once we lose sight of that, and become group-orientated or more accurately: group-obsessed, bleating about this group’s rights or that group’s rights, inevitably devolving into a fierce competition between them, we very quickly forget that we do not need to be a member of any group in order to be a sovereign free-thinking and autonomous individual with all the rights of any other person around us.
The reason this concept was so powerful and transformative is because it protects the individual from the groups. Thus preventing the ‘singling out’ and persecution of the weak by the strong, or the individual by the groups. And of course the groups are, by their very nature, stronger and thus more threatening to the rights of a solitary individual if allowed to exert their ‘strength in numbers’.
This unilateral individual protection was, and is, especially important in relation to an individual who expresses an opinion that runs counter to the mainstream narrative or that of government itself.
Which is about where I was in my mind when I decided to do something more constructive with my time and build my own small platform to express such ‘unpopular’ opinions both personally, and on behalf of many people I know who either will not, or can not, find time to express such views themselves, or in some cases are too afraid to do so due to their role as a government/civil-service employee.
The biggest surprise for me, especially since the onset of the biggest transfer of wealth and power from the average working person to the elites (COVID19), was in finding out that what I thought were ‘unpopular’ opinions are actually far from being quite as unpopular or rare as I first imagined.
I will close this post with a very brief but very powerful example. Just a few days ago, a TV show called Good Morning Britain conducted a live poll during their broadcast. The poll asked viewers to vote yes or no to the question: “With Omicron cases doubling every two days, is it time to make vaccines mandatory?”. Struth, even the damn question is utterly biassed so you’d think that would help them get the result they apparently hoped for! But alas, it wasn’t to be.
Over 42 thousand people voted in this poll, with a shockingly (even for me) unambiguous result: 89% said NO.
As the votes rolled in, when it hit 89% they promptly deleted the poll! It was meant to run for another 20 hours or so! When you factor in the audience type, people sat at home absorbing all the mainstream TV ‘programming’, I certainly would have expected it to lean strongly towards the mainstream media’s bias. But it couldn’t have been much more of a slam-dunk in the other direction! So it was, of course, quickly ‘pulled’ before the real ‘will of the people’ could be realised by the paltry 11% who support such dystopian ideas.
We are living in a time of outright lies being peddled as truth. The sheer number of outlets peddling the same trash is the only thing which gives it credence in the mind of an unthinking audience.
This one point could be reason enough for me to start speaking out on a platform like this. But it’s also a glaring demonstration of two things:
The importance of Free Speech, now more than ever.
The desperate need for the ‘powers that be’ to remove it as fast as they can.
We must fight now like our lives depend on it, because they do.
Free speech is now on a clock, with little time left. I firmly believe 2022 may well be the last year when any semblance of free speech exists in Britain, and many other countries besides. I hope with all my heart that I am wrong about that.
